For this project, we mocked up a "how-to" from an established magazine.  I chose Photoshop User, seeing as I actually read that one, and this was the result.

So, had to do a menu layout, could have been a real place, or "made-up" place.  I, of course, chose a made up place, and called it "Matty's Famous Chicago Style Beef n Dogs." (Shocker, I know.)  And this is what I came up with, and have to admit...I kinda like it.  Hope you do as well.....

Haven't been keeping up...again

Ok, I know I haven't really been keeping up with things here at the "Happenings...", but I've been busy with homework, concepts, and actual "work" on those projects, and kinda forgot to update here. (Least I'm being honest, right?)  And despite not having the programs, some car problems, and just various ailments...I have made it to the break.  So I'll use this week to play "catch-up", and get as much done as I can, without of course, stressing out over it all.  So keep a look out over the next few days, probably gonna be a lot of updates coming.  So enjoy, comment, or critique....

So school has kept me quite busy, as the absence lately shows.  But figured I'd do a quick update for all...yes, it's been tough, but not as bad as I first thought, and I may struggle, but I'll get through it all..I always do.   Anyway, just wanted to share another link for something cool I found.  It's just a PhotoShop tutorial...and I thought it may help a few out there.  Have fun and talk to ya later....

Richard Dent, sack specialist and MVP of Super Bowl XX, became the 4th member of the storied " '85 Bears" to be elected to the NFL Hall of Fame on Saturday.  He joins Walter Payton, Dan Hampton, and Mike Singletary from that team.  Congrats to Richard and his family from a die hard Bears fan...you deserved it!!

Not a fun weekend...

So yes, I know...I was watching.  That team that wears green all the time (I can't say their names..I'm a Bears fan!!) won that game yesterday, that I only watched due to the fact I had homework to do during the game. (Evaluating the commercials for Ad. Design.)  So that, added on to my car dying on Thurs, (my Fuel Pump went out!!) causing me to miss class on Friday, and costing $$ I don't have....well you can see,  Matty didn't have much fun this weekend.  Good news...got homework done, cars working again, and I still have time to do more homework for tomorrow.   Whew....(here are some pics of my car being towed...)

Car's dead, not sure what's wrong...

So yesterday afternoon, while letting my car run for a few minutes, it just died.  Kept it in the garage overnight, but still wouldn't start this morning.  So can't make it to school today.  Instead of just sitting around doing nothing, figure I'd share another site that I found.  Actually, David Chu, my 3-D Design teacher showed us a tutorial on this site, and I just went to the home page.  LOTS of really cool tutorials on a variety of subjects for you to check out.  http://vector.tutsplus.com/  Hope ya enjoy!

Let it snow...Let it snow...LET IT SNOW!!!!

So, just got word from COD, all classes cancelled until Thursday.  (If you don't know why, then you obviously live somewhere nice n warm, and I'm a tad jealous of you right now.)  But, on that note, I want it documented...if you scroll down on this page, you'll see 3 possible entries for my "Homage Project" for GD2.  They were due tonight, and obviously, they are done.  But now I have plenty of time to work on my 3-D Design project...so on to the drawing board, and be safe out there everyone...remember..It's not how FAST you get there, it's that you GET THERE.

2 more designs for Graphic Design 2 project

So Friday night, after a long day of classes, I decided to take advantage of the computer lab being open, (and the fact that I really don't have much of a social life right now) and stuck around making adjustments to my original idea for the homage piece.  But, in doing so, I decided to do a couple of more, and actually like these ones better.  So still have to decide which one to actually turn in, but with how the weather reports are going, I may not have class anyway. (Calling for "Blizzard Conditions.") Anyway, hope you enjoy...let ya know what I decide later.

I have more than just the one class this semester...

In addition to Graphic Design II, I have 3 other classes this semester.  So I'll be not only sharing the projects for that class, but all my other classes as well.  Our first project for Digital Illustration was due today, and I felt like sharing it with you. (Ok, so far, just one follower, hoping for more soon...wink, wink.)

GD Homage Mocks...but pretty much done...

So, we reviewed the homage pieces today, and after a few hours of work, this is the mock up, but really, it's pretty much finished save for a few details here and there.

Sorry, been a little busy....

So, Wednesday night..homework for one class...done.  (Had to read a chapter for Ad Design.)  Made a little progress towards my Graphic 2 "Homage Piece".....and I'd post it here, if I had remembered to put in on my flash drive.  So maybe tomorrow.  Still a WIP, but coming along quite nicely.

In one of my other classes, 3D Design, we had to draw a Corvette model we made, to start drawing things in perspective.  Well, I've always wanted to learn how to draw cars, a friend of mine does really great colored pencil drawings, and the two combined has finally piqued my interest.  Purchased a book, "How to Draw Cars Like a Pro."  Gotta start somewhere, right.  So gonna sketch a bit before calling it a night.

Well..it was a fun season overall.....

Back in August, I really wasn't all that optimistic about the upcoming NFL season.  The NFC Central looked really strong, and I, like a lot of other "experts" didn't hold out much hope for the Bears...myself, predicting a 10-6 record, just missing the playoffs.   Well...they made it to the NFC Championship, and as all of you know now...they lost. 

So to the boys in blue and orange, thank you for a fun season...just came up short today.

BEARS VS PACKERS...More excited than Xmas!!!

I have been a Chicago Bears fan for as long as I can remember.  Later on today, well it should just simply be called..."The Game."  Bears vs Packers.....Soldier Field....NFC Championship!!!!!  I am literally more excited about this, than I was for Xmas...and there was a HAM involved on Xmas!!!  (Oh, I LOVE HAM!!..Just sayin.)  Anyway, gonna try and get some zzzzzz's...Hope to have a fantastic update later on today.  LET'S GO BEARS!!!!!

So anyway, after class today, I got home, and did a little research for the Homage Project for class.  I picked Saul Bass, mostly cause I've seen his work before, just didn't realize he had actually done it.  And his style just kinda caught my eye a little more than some of the others.  Have a few thumbnails done, nothing really concrete, but I'm a little tired now...

Anyhow, in doing some of the research, I came across this website for something called the Design Museum, and just thought I'd share it with whoever reads this.  No followers yet....eh, I just started.  Here's the site, http://designmuseum.org/design

Why is Matty doing this?

Ok, so I don't really know if I had to do this entry on my blog yet or not...but I figure, why not?  So I'm taking this Graphic Design 2 class this semester, a step in the road I have to take, to reach my goals someday.  Yes, I have dreams of what I want to accomplish upon completion of this class and others in the Graphic Design program...but we aren't there yet.  Right now, I want to learn as much as I can from this class, get a little less scared of these computer programs I have to learn, and if I create some really cool..(ok, don't know the rules about language on here yet, but you know what I might have said here)..art and stuff...at least it'll be fun.  So stay tuned peeps...laters.
